If you would prefer to solicit bids on the total LF (linear feet)
of decking (or ceiling or wall covering) and bypass the rather tedious
method above, then the Second Method
is for you. If you know the total number of LF, enter it in the box
below. If not, don't break into a cold sweat. You just need to know
the area of decking (in square feet) and what % of waste you will have.
The more complicated and "cut up" the design... and the more
"herringbone" the decking, the higher the % waste. A simplier
deck might have only 5% waste while a wild looking thing might have
25% waste. Hint: Err on the side of safety.
When you order decking in total LF, it is shipped in what we call RL
(random lengths) which means approximately equal amounts of 8', 10',
12', 14', 16' and 18' boards. |
